NOTE 7 Explained

Over the last few months Samsung have been in the news regarding the mishaps that occurred with the release of their Galaxy Note 7. When this device first came out, it had a very large following from people who were fans of it's previous generations, but then many users started coming across issues with their devices, putting others off.

These issues came in the form of overheating batteries, resulting in the devices catching alight and burning out. These reports soon got publicised by the media, and originally Samsung thought that this may just be the select few devices with issues, but the reports kept appearing.

This public attention resulted in a global recall for the Note 7 devices after they were deemed too unsafe for consumer use. Moreover the dangers caused by the Note 7 then resulted in many airline companies banning it from flights, causing a lot of inconvenience for many loyal Samsung users.

After this media uproar, Samsung issued a global recall for the device, resulting in investors wiping $19 billion off Samsung's value and a fall of 9 per cent in stock value, allowing Apple's stocks to rise by 2 per cent.

Today Samsung confirmed that the faults in the device was caused by a fauly battery, which has also slowed the release of the Note 8. Lets hope that Samsung finally sort out this issue.

Sony Xperia XZ Review

With a device that is set to compete against the LG G5 and Samsung's Galaxy S7, what can we expect? I am working with Vodafone to bring you a review of the Sony Xperia XZ, a sleek, powerful device.

Currently, the Sony Xperia XZ is retailing for £479.99 which is comparable to both its LG and Samsung rivals priced at £329.99 and £458.95 as of 17th January. I do feel that this device is worth this amount, but to make it an even value for money, I would like to see some unique features that other smartphone companies have not yet implemented into their devices.

Sony are renowned for packing cameras with very high megapixels, and powerful sensors into their devices, and they have not disappointed with the Xperia XZ. This devices comes with a 23-megapixel rear camera, and a 13-megapixel front camera perfect for all of those holiday selfies!

Here is an un-edited photograph taken on the 23-megapixel rear camera, and as you can see that quality is fantastic. Firstly, the image is very sharp, allowing you to see all of the details of the grains of wood on the bird box. Moreover, one interesting feature about the camera app on this device is that it allows you to be able to manually change the settings such as the focus, shutter speed and the white balance. Additionally, this device allows ISO of up to 12,800, making it fantastic to capture images and video in low light environments. On to the note of video, the XZ records 4K video, meaning that you can create stunning pieces of art.

In combination with the XZ's camera quality, you are going to need quite a large amount of space to store all of the photographs and video, and this is helped by the 32GB of internal storage, cupeled with a up to 256GB extendable storage in the form of a micro SD card. In addition, the Xperia XZ is charged through a USB-C connector, allowing for very fast transfer speeds between the XZ and your device. The use of the USB-C also allows for quick charging of the 2900 mAh battery. I have found through testing that this battery can easily last up to four days if the device is sat idle, just receiving slow notifications, and will last approximately a day on a full charge.

One thing that I have noticed particularly whilst testing out the Sony Xperia XZ, and that is the speed that it runs at. With a Snapdragon 820 processor and 3GB RAM, this device allows you to seamlessly run multiple apps, as well as recording videos effortlessly.

And finally, you can view all of this from the crystal clear images, to the numerous games and apps on a 5.2 inch full HD display, meaning that you will be able to see every bit of detail thanks to this generous display.

The Sony Xperia XZ is available from the following retailers.

Amazon    Vodafone    PC World

Thank you to Vodafone for sending me out this device to review.

The Business of Electric Cars

Over the past year, numerous car companies have been progressing on the electric car front, with companies such as Tesla implementing amazing technological features in their electric cars. With demand increasing for these environmentally friendly vehicles, many other well-known vehicle manufacturers have decided to start developing and releasing similar products.

In the press this week, we have had news on the Jaguar I-Pace which is a fully electric, luxury sports car capable of delivering 700Nm of instant torque, and will take only 4 seconds from 0-60 mph. Compared with Tesla's P100D which is the quickest production car in the world, with the ability to reach 0-60 mph in only 2.5 seconds.

These sorts of technologies are astounding and are really putting significant interest on electric cars, and what they are capable of. But the question is, how long until fuel powered cars become a thing of the past? I guess we will find out!

Logitech M220 Silent Mouse Review

The world leader in mice and other peripherals have once again brought out a very inexpensive solution to help you with your everyday work flow. Logitech have a nifty product on the market that boasts over 90% noice reduction compared to other everyday mice. This clever solution means that you and others around you will no longer be annoyed or distracted by the clicking sound produced by your mouse.

The Logitech M220 allows you to effortlessly control your pointer, and personally I feel it also offers a very satisfying click feel but without the click noise. Additionally, this mouse has wireless capabilities and allows the user to control the device reliably from a distance of 10-metres. I tried this myself and I can confirm that this is correct. The mouse controlled my 13" MacBook Pro without any delays or lag.

In order to connect the Logitech M220 mouse to your device, you simply remove the covering on the bottom of the mouse and there is a tidy place where the small USB receiver stays when the mouse is not being used. I have found this very useful, as occasionally I have to occupy all of the USB ports on my MacBook, and this features helps to stop the USB receiver from getting lost. Finally, since the M220 has auto ON-OFF it allows the device to have a long-lasting battery life, meaning you will not have to replace the battery as frequently.

So will you be purchasing the M220?
